PSG Wins UEFA Super Cup, Luis Enrique Says His Team Didn't Deserve to Win
Muhe - Thursday, 14 August 2025 | 05:00 PM (WIB)

In the match, held at the Bluenergy Stadium, Italy, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, PSG put in an unconvincing performance. In fact, PSG trailed Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 until the 85th minute.
PSG displayed a champion's mentality by equalizing the score in regulation time to 2-2. Then, after extra time and a penalty shootout, PSG secured the title with a score of 4-3.
Regarding his team's unsatisfactory performance, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said his team didn't deserve to win. This was also due to Tottenham's impressive performance.
"For 80 minutes, we didn't deserve to win. Tottenham played well and deserved to win. We were very fortunate to score two goals in the last 10 minutes," Enrique said.
Regarding PSG's unsatisfactory performance, Enrique stated that Tottenham had more time. Tottenham had been in preseason for six weeks, while PSG had just begun six days of training after appearing in the Club World Cup final.
In this match, two PSG players, Lee Kang-in and Goncalo Ramos, were the saviors. Both contributed one goal each in regulation time.
Despite winning the title, Enrique refused to ignore his team's shortcomings. He emphasized that the result did not reflect the overall course of the match.
"Sometimes football is unfair," he said.
Rookie goalkeeper becomes hero
Regarding this match, Enrique praised PSG's young goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, who was making his debut. Replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma, Chevalier made a mistake that led to Tottenham's second goal.
However, Chevalier made amends by making a save in the penalty shootout. He denied Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven in the shootout.
"He showed great personality, and that's very important at a club like PSG because the pressure is so great," said Enrique.
Meanwhile, PSG midfielder Vitinha highlighted his team's collective spirit when facing the pressure of the penalty shootout.
"This is the definition of a team. When someone fails, the others help," said Vitinha.***
