Benjamin Sesko Transfer News: Manchester United Move Closer Despite Newcastle Bid
90 MIN Football - In this summer's transfer market, Benjamin Sesko has become a hot topic. Playing for German club RB Leipzig, Sesko performed impressively last season and has attracted interest from several clubs. Currently, two clubs are seriously interested in signing Sesko: Manchester United and Newcastle United. Both Premier League giants have made offers for Sesko.
However, as developments progress, Sesko reportedly prefers to join the Red Devils, Manchester United's nickname. He is reportedly reluctant to join St James' Park, Newcastle's home ground. Although no official agreement has been reached with the Slovenian player, Manchester United is still in talks with RB Leipzig. Manchester United has reportedly submitted an initial offer of £65 million plus £8.9 million in add-ons.
However, Newcastle appears unwilling to give up. Newcastle have also made a second offer to Leipzig, with a value of £69.7 million plus add-ons. This is significantly higher than Manchester United's offer. Despite Newcastle's higher offer, Sesko is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford. Leipzig is currently in internal discussions regarding offers from Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Predicted to leave the club, 22-year-old Sesko missed Leipzig's pre-season friendly against Atalanta last Saturday. Sesko had already bid farewell to his teammates and trained separately at Leipzig's training complex on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Meanwhile, Sesko's transfer will impact Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. He is also being pursued by major clubs and is expected to leave Newcastle.
However, Newcastle are reportedly only willing to let Isak leave St James' Park if they can find a ready-made replacement. Liverpool have shown significant interest in Isak and have had a bid of £110 million plus add-ons rejected by the Magpies.
