Barcelona Beat Mallorca 3-0, But Hansi Flick Unhappy
Barcelona kicked off the 2025/2026 La Liga season with a convincing 0-3 victory over Mallorca. Visiting Mallorca's home ground, Mallorca's Estadi Son Moix, this 0-3 victory was invaluable for Barcelona.
However, despite Barcelona's convincing 0-3 victory over Mallorca, coach Hansi Flick received sharp criticism. He assessed that his team had many areas to improve despite the convincing victory.
Flick stated that when he decided to join Barcelona, several aspects had become important standards for him. Furthermore, Mallorca had to play with nine men in that match.
He said Barcelona should have utilized that number of players to perform optimally. Instead of increasing the intensity of their attacks, Barcelona actually relaxed their intensity and lost focus. Despite the convincing victory, Flick emphasized that he would not turn a blind eye to his team's shortcomings.

Only Playing at 50% of Their Standard

Flick highlighted Barcelona's decreased attacking intensity when Mallorca played with nine men. At the time, Barcelona was already leading 0-2, but the players didn't increase their attacking intensity.
"I didn't like that match. These were three important points, but I didn't like that match. After the 0-2 score and two red cards, the team played at 50%. I have to talk about this; I didn't like it. We couldn't play at 50 or 60 percent, even against nine men," he said.

Lack of Ball Control and Play

Flick also highlighted Barcelona's tempo and lack of ball control. He considered Barcelona's players unable to dominate the match despite their numerical superiority. He hoped his players could control the pace of the match effectively.
"We have to control the ball and the play," Flick said.

There should have been more goals.

Three goals is certainly not a small amount, but for Flick, with his numerical advantage, Barcelona should have scored more. Barcelona had a numerical advantage for more than 50 minutes, but they only managed one goal, and that was in stoppage time.
"We have to control the ball and the game. We have to score [more]," said Flick. "With two more players, we should have controlled the game more and created more chances," he said.

Too relaxed

Flick said that overall, Barcelona must improve as a team in certain areas. He wants to see his players improve their performance and adapt quickly to conditions on the pitch.
"We have to play faster. We have to improve in certain areas," he said.***
