Amorim Calls Fiorentina Victory "Perfect Preparation" for Premier League
Muhe - Monday, 11 August 2025 | 02:00 AM (WIB)

In an interview with MUTV, Amorim made no secret of the fact that his team still has areas for improvement, but he viewed the friendly as a valuable lesson before the Premier League season begins.
"Perfect Preparation Match" Full of Challenges
Manchester United lifted the Snapdragon Cup after a 1-1 draw and then a 5-4 penalty shootout victory. Amorim admitted his team faced difficulties, especially at the start of each half, as the Serie A side played very aggressively."Today was a difficult match," said Amorim. "We had some difficulties, especially at the beginning of the first half and the beginning of the second. They were very agile and we struggled to find the right moments to press."
Nevertheless, he saw many positives from the match. "I think we lacked fluidity in our play, we could have played better, but I think it was the perfect preparation match to show us that we need to improve in various areas," he added.
Spotlight on Players and Attack
Amorim gave special praise to several players, while also highlighting areas for improvement.
'Extraordinary' Mason Mount: The Portuguese coach praised Mason Mount's work ethic and versatility. "It's incredible how he works, constantly changing positions. He knows all the positions," he said, hinting at Mount's crucial role in his tactical scheme.
Forward Struggles: Regarding the performances of his two attackers, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Amorim felt they were not yet at their peak. "I think they're probably only at 50-60 percent of their potential. I think, like any other team, we'll improve throughout the season," he said. He also cited his team's struggles without a striker as a reference, a problem that could be addressed with the arrival of new striker Benjamin Sesko.
Final Preparations Ahead of Arsenal Match
With eight days remaining before Arsenal host Old Trafford, Amorim is now fully focused on his team's preparations. He emphasized that competition for starting spots is fierce, which is a good sign.
"I have ideas, but they (the players) need to fight hard all week to change my mind," Amorim emphasized. He plans to hold two very intensive training sessions to ensure his team is strategically and mentally prepared for the crucial season opener.
