Before being officially unveiled by LA FC, Son had announced his decision to end his time with Spurs. Son had played for Spurs for 10 years and played a vital role in the team.
Before leaving Spurs, Son left on a sweet note, ending Spurs' 17-year wait for a major trophy. Son led Spurs to the UEFA Europa League title in the 2024/2025 season.
Regarding Son's decision to leave Spurs, Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy described it as a difficult one. Levy described Sonny as one of the greatest players to ever wear the famous Lilywhite shirt and has been a joy to watch over the past decade. He is not only a supremely talented footballer, but also an extraordinary figure who has touched the hearts and inspired countless people across the Club and around the world.
"The Europa League victory in Bilbao was a truly magical moment in the Club's history, and Sonny lifting the trophy was the perfect lasting memory of his fantastic decade at Tottenham Hotspur. Sonny has given so much to this Club, both on and off the pitch, and for that we are forever grateful. We wish him the best for the future, and he will always be welcome back to the Club as a beloved and valued member of the Spurs family," Levy said, as reported by the Premier League's official website.
After officially leaving the Premier League, Son has had a remarkable career. He has scored 127 goals during his Premier League career, becoming the 16th-highest goalscorer in the competition's history.
In addition to his incredible goalscoring ability, Son has recorded 71 assists, placing him 17th in the competition's history.
